WEEKLY UPDATES
We have been WAY behind in getting to weekly updates. Over the past few weeks we have had some really exciting games and some great plays by so many Mighty Mites players! Keep up the good work everyone!
The following are some of the highlights over the last few weeks:
- The Phillies just beat the Orioles 11-10. This was a great baseball game! Cameron got a key 2 out single that led to a 7 run second inning capped off by Robbie’s 1st career grand slam. Way to go Robbie! Great defensive plays by Adan at 3rd base kept the Orioles from having big rallies. Outstanding plays by Kevin B and Josh in the Bottom of the 5th did not allow the tying run to score. What a game!
- The Red Sox beat the Giants 12-11. Down 9-11 in the bottom of 4th. The mighty Christopher hit a home run with 2 men on and 2 outs. Congratulations to both teams for playing such a great game.
- The Tigers beat the Braves and had a game in which their hitting and fielding all came together. There were a number of solid plays in the field by the Tigers’ infield and outfield. Lots of heads-up play by Sam at shortstop. Nick hit his first home run of the season. After taking the lead, the Braves started to rally at the top of the 5th inning scoring 4 runs. This was a really good game played by both teams.
- The Athletics beat the Braves for their first win of the year in a close one 12-11. Patrick hit his first home run of the season! Congratulations, Patrick!
- The Phillies beat the Red Sox by scoring 6 runs in the first inning and never looking back. Again some great defense was on display especially by Kevin S. in this game. He made several plays at 3rd base by throwing across the diamond to 1st to get the baserunner. Jacob and Drew both added a double and a single.
- The Phillies beat the Giants and Nate contributed with 2 hits and great defensive play at 3rd base. Kevin B and Adan both hit home runs as well.
- The Red sox beat the Tigers 16-10. This was a really close game all the way to the Bottom of the 4th inning. The bases were loaded for the Tigers. There was a deep hit to left-center field and PJ made a diving catch to end the inning! Great catch PJ!
- The Phillies beat the Indians 21 to 5. For the Phillies, Ken had 3 hits and Will had 2 hits! The Phillies had another outstanding team defensive effort led by Kevin B who made a backhanded stop in the hole at shortstop and threw the runner out at 1st. What a play!
- When the Phillies and Indians played again, it was a much closer game with some great defensive plays by both teams. The Phillies hung on to win 6-2. Will and Jacob both had big RBI’s in the 4th inning for the Phillies to extend the lead. Adan played great defense at 3rd for the Phillies and Sean went 2 for 2.
- The Orioles were able to hang on and beat the Indians 7-6 in an extremely close game. Trailing 6-4 in their last at bat, there O's rallied against a great Indians team. Nathan homered to center field leading off to start the rally. After Charlie singled to left, the stage was set for the dramatic finish. John ended the game with a walkoff home run to left field! John and Nathan received gameballs after the mob scene ended at the plate!
- The Indians scored a whopping 26 runs in beating the Braves. There was some great plays by many of the Indians players. Tajh caught a deep fly ball in left field in the 1st inning. Aaron made 5 assists during the game. Aaron also went 4 for 4 and scored 3 runs. What a game for Aaron!
- The Mariners and Tigers played a great game and the Mariners barely hung on to beat the Tigers 11-10. The Mariners scored 5 runs in bottom of 5th for the win. Nolan had game winning hit. Way to go, Nolan!
- In a real battle between the A’s and Giants, after a furious charge from the Giants in the top of the fifth, the Athletics hold on for the victory 19-18. Bobby H had a triple and an unassisted double play to help the A's win.
- In a classic slugfest, the Orioles beat the Red Sox 31-18. Both teams poured on the hits and had a blast. For the Orioles, Nathan hit for the cycle, Roman had 5 hits and the O's turned two double plays.
